Figure Wishlist - 1/7 Kouhai-chan

Hello everyone and welcome back to Tiro Finale for another edition of Figure Wishlist! It has been quite a while since I last made one of these and that largely has to do with the fact that there have not been many new figures which have caught my interest. That is, of course, until Good Smile Company finally unveiled the wraps on their latest 1/7 Kouhai-chan from Tawawa on Monday.

We have known about this particular figure for quite a while now, having seen it firsthand in last year's Summer WonFes. Ever since then, GSC has been rather mum about their Tawawa on Monday figures with only the reveal of Nendoroid Ai-chan in July.

More than half a year later, GSC finally reveals Kouhai-chan's scale figure complete with full details and a quick look by Kahotan. And she looks every bit as stunning as when she was first revealed in WonFes. But, there is a catch! Slated for a December 2018 release, fans of the Kouhai-chan and Tawawa on Monday will have to wait close to another year before her retail release. And that is without any delays!

Release dates aside, Kouhai-chan is surprisingly reasonably priced at 10,185 Yen (before tax). Especially considering she is a 1/7 scale figure manufactured by Good Smile Company themselves. Any other manufacturer would have easily charged 2,000-3,000 Yen more and that is before even considering the level of detail and optional parts that come with the figure. Even better still, Kouhai-chan can be gotten on AmiAmi for just over 9,000 Yen.

Speaking of optional parts, Kouhai-chan comes with a whole host of them. These include the table, chair, bottle of wine and even an alternate face designed by the author, Kiseki Himura, himself. Then, there are the finer touches like Kouhai-chan's removable shoes and wine accidentally spilled on her cleavage. I can already imagine the size of the box with all those extras included!
Despite all of those redeeming features, there is still one dilemma that remains unresolved. Unlike any other figure that I have collected in the past, there is absolutely no reason or excuse, for that matter, to pre-order Kouhai-chan. Undeniably it is a top-notch figure that GSC has clearly put the effort into making yet retaining a reasonable price point. But the problem still remains, if you are getting a Tawawa on Monday figure, you are primarily getting it for the main allure of the series to begin with. Which in this case, are the character's exaggerated bust sizes. Try as you may, there really is no way around it.

At the end of the day, I am left clueless and undecided. There is absolutely no reason why I should get Kouhai-chan but, on the flip-side, there are not exactly any reasons not to get her either. From a figure standpoint, Kouhai-chan certainly ticks all the boxes as far the as the promotional images are any point of reference. Yet, I cannot shake this feeling of guilt for wanting to own this figure.

What do you think? I would love to hear your thoughts on the matter and the figure itself in the comments section below. Perhaps then, I would get a clearer idea of what to do. Either way, I still have 11 more months before deciding on whether to get her or not. Until then, thank you so much for reading and have yourself a wonderful day ahead!

P.S. All photo credits go to Good Smile Company, do make sure to check out Kouhai-chan's product page and pre-order her if, like me, she is on your wishlist too!
