Tokyo Days 57 - Kyu-Shiba-Rikyu Gardens

After one full week of Akiba, I decided I needed to unwind one last time before I left Tokyo for good. Despite the summer heat now being on full blast, I still had several locations still left incomplete on my list.

One of them, Kyu-Shiba-Rikyu Gardens, was one of the nine metropolitan gardens of Tokyo that I wanted to visit.

As time would have it,  I would certainly not be able to visit all the nine gardens. Hence, I selected the one closest to me where transportation would not be an issue.

As far as the metropolitan gardens go, Kyu-Shiba-Rikyu was one of the smaller ones as reflected by the 150 Yen entrance fee.

Not to say that it is no less attractive though as it was still pretty sizable and, like the other gardens, surrounded by Tokyo's tall buildings.

One thing that makes Kyu-Shiba-Rikyu unique is the man-made pond which used to be filled with salt water from the sea. Nowadays, that is no longer the case but, the old seawater intake still exists albeit being non-functional.

If there is one recurring pattern to the metropolitan gardens, it would the trio of stone, trees and water.

Still, do not change it if it is not broken right?

Bridges too are a prominent feature allowing visitors to traverse over to the man-made islands.

Still waters made for great reflection shots!

The mountain of the immortals, I would sure love to see it.

For your safety, of course.

A panoramic look at the garden.

Tucked away on the peak of the islands was this miniature pagoda.

Aside from the man-made islands, there was also a man-made hill. From atop it, you could get this awesome view of the garden and the city surrounding it.

As usual, for your safety.

At this point in summer, many of the flowers were beginning to wilt making way to autumn.

Remember the sings earlier?

A short history about this historical garden at the entrance of the park. With that, it was one more day in Tokyo with just one entry remaining for Tokyo Days.
